What is consent to let?

“Consent to Let” is the permission you might need to obtain from your mortgage lender if you decide to rent out your property. This is especially relevant if you have a residential mortgage, as these typically require that the property is occupied by the owner.

If your circumstances change and you wish to rent out your property – perhaps due to a job relocation, moving in with a partner, or financial reasons – you need to inform your mortgage lender. They may grant you a “Consent to Let”, allowing you to rent out your property for a certain period.
